FULL MATCH – John Cena & The Rock vs. The Miz & R-Truth: Survivor Series 2011

The blockbuster tag team match at Survivor Series 2011 saw two of WWE’s biggest icons, John Cena and The Rock, team up for the first time ever against The Miz and R-Truth, collectively known as The Awesome Truth. Taking place in Madison Square Garden, this match carried immense significance, as it was The Rock’s first official match in WWE since WrestleMania XX in 2004.

The Build-Up:

The rivalry between The Rock and John Cena had already begun, with their “Once in a Lifetime” match set for WrestleMania 28. However, before they could face each other, they had to co-exist as a team to take on Miz and R-Truth, who had been causing chaos in WWE under the influence of Mr. John Laurinaitis.

Match Breakdown:

The atmosphere was electric as The Rock made his entrance to a thunderous ovation. Starting the match, The Rock showcased his sharpness despite being away from the ring for seven years. He outwrestled The Miz, hitting deep arm drags and even mocking him. The crowd erupted as Rock looked just as dominant as he did in his prime.

Miz and R-Truth eventually gained control by isolating Cena, executing quick tags and using underhanded tactics. Miz delivered his patented DDT, while Truth hit his signature Lie Detector. Cena endured the beatdown, playing the role of the resilient underdog as The Rock watched eagerly from the apron.

After a hot tag, The Rock exploded into action, taking out both Miz and Truth with his signature offense. He delivered a Spinebuster to Miz, followed by the electrifying People’s Elbow for the decisive pinfall victory.

Aftermath:

Following the match, as Cena celebrated alongside The Rock, tensions flared. The Rock signaled that their partnership was temporary, and in a shocking moment, he laid out Cena with a Rock Bottom, sending a clear message ahead of their WrestleMania showdown.

This match was a historic moment, marking The Rock’s in-ring return and planting the seeds for one of WWE’s greatest rivalries.
